On Thursday 21st June, St Patrick’s celebrated Italian National Day. This is celebrated because on that day, years ago, Italy became a Republic.
We had an assembly outside the 100 block under the shade. We had many fantastic and interesting performances like a play about Pinocchio, dancing and some singing by Lauren Jenkins, Eliza Tyndall, Hannah Linnegar, Tony Fattore and Sophie Sheppard. We also saw some outstanding giant puppets. Everyone had a great time.
At lunch some people had ham and pineapple pizza and vanilla and chocolate gelato. I had everything. It was beautiful.
Everyone was happy when we left and I loved all the performances and had a day to remember. The whole Italian National Day was a huge success and all thanks goes to Signor Taranto. The parents helping with the pizza and gelato and the wonderful performers.

At the conclusion of the school’s festivities, was the surprise appearance of the “CALABRIAN GIGANTESI”! The “Gigantesi” are often seen at Southern Italian religious festivals and their appearance at St Patrick’s delighted both children and adults on the day. The GIGANTESI danced to the beat of a drum and tambourine as is the traditional custom. It was certainly a highlight of the day.
