ABSENCES

Any absence from school must be explained even if only for a short period during the day. Parents should phone the school or, on the child's return, send a note to the teacher explaining the absence. If children have contagious diseases, the school should be notified immediately so that necessary warnings can be given to contacts. Parents who are uncertain about how long children should be kept home for certain contagious illnesses can contact the school office for information.

REPORTING PUPIL PROGRESS

Parent nights are held early in Term 1 to inform parents of teaching strategies and expectations during the year. Several others are held throughout the year concerning Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.
Parent - Teacher interviews, in which parents have the opportunity to discuss their child's progress with the teacher, are held in Term 2.
Written reports are given out at the end of Terms 2 and 4.
Teachers are happy to have interviews with parents, by appointment, outside teaching times. If desiring interview with your child's teacher the procedure is to ring the school office and arrange a time that is convenient to both of you. This ensures that the teacher is available to concentrate on the discussion. With staff meetings, playground duty, bus duty, staff prayers and classroom preparation, time immediately before and after school can be very precious.

SUPERVISION

Our duty of care towards our students is of uppermost concern during times of playground supervision. For reasons of safety and concern playground RULES apply. Various areas of the playground are designated as "out of bounds" and various types of games are considered unacceptable.

Supervision times at St Patrick's School are between 8.30am and 3.30pm - except for those children travelling by bus who will be supervised until the last bus departs, and the car park children who are supervised until 3.30pm.
Any children remaining in the school grounds after car park duty has been completed at 3.30pm will be taken directly to the main office building until they are collected. The same will apply if children are left after the completion of bus duty.

Parents should ensure that children arrive at school in good time so that MORNING PRAYERS and ROLL CALL are not interrupted.
Students absent from school must bring a written note on their return. This note is filed in the Class Roll. A phone call is also appreciated. This will also be recorded in the Class Roll.

If you are concerned and wish to see your child's teacher please make an appointment, as it is very difficult to have a satisfactory interview during class time. Teachers are here to help and support you as much as they can.

All children are to remain in the school grounds during school hours.
Those wishing to go home for lunch or needing to leave the school grounds for any reason must have a written note from their parents, and permission from a member of the School Executive.
